Martin Luther found a new home!

A couple of years ago, the Commons Area was redecorated, walls were painted, and the bust of Martin Luther was relocated. Luther covered some ground in the church during his transition, moving from the chancel area and then around the narthex. If Luther really did once say, “Bewilderment is the true comprehension. Not to know where you are going is the true knowledge,” then he was truly full of knowledge.

Thanks to the work and wisdom of Duane Wamre, Luther now has a permanent home in the Commons Area. His home is no longer lost! You can check it out. Luther looks quite pleased to have found a new place to be.

I wonder if summer is a time of finding the lost. Like Luther found a home, you may find many something this summer. My prayer is always for people to find more time with family in the

summer months, when some of the school-year obligations are lost. Maybe you will find a new hobby, after losing the time or ability to do something you had done in the past. Maybe you will find renewed joy for life as you spend time outdoors, losing the practice of hibernation in the cold of winter.

Because of technology, you are more able to stay connected to your church family throughout the summer. Online and over KDIX radio, you can listen to worship live at 9:30 a.m. on

Sundays from anywhere there is an internet connection or a radio. If you miss it on Sunday, you can listen to the sermon podcast posted on the website. St. John’s Facebook page regularly has something to tell you. Taking Faith Home sheets are available online, along with the Sunday bulletins and newsletters. And Thursday worship is offered each week at 7:00 p.m. for those who spend weekends elsewhere. From anywhere, anytime, you can connect to the ministry

God is up to at St. John.

You may find something you have lost this summer. Perhaps your adventures will include

finding a new home, or a new place to spend your time, like the bust of Luther. No matter what is lost, we encourage you to find time to practice your faith. Even if your connection to St. John over the summer does not allow you to be in the building as much as you would like, it is easy to find ways to worship.
