There are many opportunities for adults to be involved at St. John. A variety of classes are offered to encourage everyone to grow in their faith - individually or as a couple.
If you are a person who wishes to serve in a group or individually, Visit the Serving Opportunities to be a part of worship or a small group that puts their hand and feet to work to assist others in the community and beyond.
Wherever your interests may be, St. John encourages everyone to take part in something to become an active part of the church family

Quite a mouthful, we know. This organization includes Lutheran women who gather in more than 7,000 locations in the U.S. and the Caribbean, for service, study, advocacy, fellowship and more! WELCA embraces all kinds of ministries that support our mission of mobilizing women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.
Purpose of WELCA: As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Women of the ELCA connects with participants in many ways - magazines, e-zines, e-newsletters, both monthly and quarterly - to tell others how the organization (and that means all of us) is acting boldly on our faith in Jesus Christ. Married4Life is an opportunity for you to intentionally care for something we often hope will take care of itself:
OUR MARRIAGE
In this small group ministry, couples gather monthly with other couples
to care for your relationship in a time frame designed specifically
for the two of you with no distractions.
Marriage Care is…
* An informal, conversational meeting with other couples.
* The chance to enrich your relationship and grow in your marriage.
* A time to express what you value about each other and what sometimes makes you stumble.
Marriage Care is not…
* A substitute for therapy
* In-depth Training
* Just another social group
Interested in being a part of this group? Contact the church office at 701-225-6747.
Marriage Care is a ministry developed by Bill and Anita Smith at Luther Seminary, and is used by several congregations as well as seminary students and spouses.
Throughout the school year, an Adult Education class is held on a variety of topics. Occasionally there is a speaker from the community or from a ministry outside of Dickinson. This is also a time for Adult Bible Study or a deeper look at the gospel reading for that day.
This group is attended by men and women of varying ages. You can come for one session, or several – it is a “walk-in” class. Everyone is welcome in the Fellowship Room on the main floor of the church building for this interesting and informal group! The coffee and tea are always hot ~ and we occasionally enjoy homemade treats!
~ This class is currently not in session. Watch for details on alternative Adult Education opportunities! ~
The St. John Men’s Breakfast Bible Study meets each week at Perkins on Friday mornings at 6:30 am. Men of all ages are encouraged to drop in. Check the church calendar for any changes to this schedule. This informal group has a great time sharing a meal, discussing topics and growing deeper in their faith as they study the bible.
Several small groups of ladies gather on a monthly basis to grow deeper in their faith as they dig into different topics in the Bible and enjoy fellowship together. If you are interested in joining a group, please contact the church office to get more information about these groups and when they meet.
It's no secret that Martin Luther enjoyed a pint or two with his friends. As he ate and drank with his friends in Wittenberg, Luthr had many conversations about God, life, the Bible and faith. Theology on Tap is inspired by the founders of our faith. This informal group meets monthly (last Tuesday of the month @ 7:00 pm) to have conversations on various topics such as "God in Sports", "Decoding Denominations", and "Angels". Various venues are utilized in Dickinson, and it is not exclusive to Lutherans. Everyone is welcome for this fun and enlightening discussion.
6 Weeks on Money is a digital course and small group experience that changes the way we think about money. In this course, you will learn how to:
✔ Increase savings
✔ Eliminate debt
✔ Live generously
Along the way, the course shows us “deeper” aspects of money. For instance, have you ever thought about your earliest memory of money? Do you ever wonder why some purchases feel different than other purchases? Why spenders and savers tend to find one another and get married?
A "financial wellness" class is offered each year. Announcements will appear in worship,
on the website homepage and on E-News on details for the next class that will be offered.
